Staff & Sling Ministry Bibles, 2nd Edition

Some time ago my wife expressed an interest in having a loose leaf Bible. However, I wasn't so keen on the idea of paying $60 for a loose leaf binder with a set of preprinted pages. I've used loose leaf binders and know one thing to be certain. No matter how many holes the pages have, they will tear. I suppose that's why other loose leaf Bible publishers sell "refill packs."

After giving the matter some thought, I looked around for someone selling a loose leaf Bible on CD that I could print out myself. It just made sense to me that this was a much better way to go. If a page tears (make that when a page tears) I could just reprint that page. Moreover, when studying a particular topic my wife could make all the notes she liked, right there on the Bible pages. Then when finished with the topic she could file away her notes with all the relevant scriptures together and replace only those pages.

The more I thought about it, the more I liked the idea. And not just for my wife, but for myself as well. As a pastor I liked the idea of being able to print out only those scripture relevant to my sermon. As with my wife's Bible studies, it seemed a perfect way to archive my sermons.

Unfortunately, none of the Bible publishers seemed to share my enthusiasm for the idea.

So I published one myself. The Staff & Sling Ministry Loose Leaf Bible consists of all 66 books of the Authorized King James Version of the Holy Bible, organized in two directories (the First Covenant and the New Covenant), plus a cover page, table of contents, title pages and a read me text file (Cover, etc.). Each book is in a PDF (Portable Data Format) file and is formatted for two-sided printing (The Adobe Acrobat Reader, necessary to view PDF files, is available for free downloading at the Adobe Web Site). When printed the entire compilation is 988 pages (both sides of 494 sheets of standard 8.5" x 11" paper).

I have also compiled the entire King James Bible into a single ebook, the Staff & Sling Ministry eBible. Intended for use on a computer, the reader can easily navigate to any book and chapter they desire simply by clicking on the navigation menu. Once there, the reader can copy and paste scriptures into whatever document they are working on.

You are welcome to download either or both of the Staff & Sling Ministry Bibles via the links below. Once you've downloaded one or both of these Bibles I would appreciate hearing from you (though it is by no means required). In particular I would like to know if you find them useful, and I would especially like to know if you think of any improvements that I might implement.

Finally, if you prefer, the whole collection is available on a single CD that you can buy  for $19.00. You might want a quantity of CDs (maybe to use as handouts), in which case I will see if I can give you a price break. Just Contact me with the number of copies you want and we'll see if we can come to terms. Since most people are reassured by the security and familiarity of  , I will be happy to set up a special auction for you. Just remember, while I will gladly sell you the CD, you do not need to pay for the Word.
